Forgotten for a while, but this Foodie is back

Many apologies for my blogging negligence. It seems that between grad school, work, and trying to solve the Rubik's cube that is my foot, I have not posted in a very very long time. I cannot atone for all of my blogging sins, but I can give you a peek into my recent foodie adventures.

In December, after four days of working through the most strenuous final EVER (NO JOKE), I turned that sucker in on the 15th and went out to CELEBRATE!! In true foodie fashion, a few of my friends and I went out for pizza at Pupatella. We split a vegetarian arancini (aka a fried rice ball of deliciousness), a prosciutto pizza, and a goat cheese, spinach veggie pizza. I liked the prosciutto pizza pretty well, but I think everyone agreed that the veggie pizza beat its meaty counterpart. Back at my friend's roost, we made some super tasty and masterfully decorated gingerbread cookies. We broke open a little wine too....

This week, I also threw the first TND of the year. I'd been hankering to roast up a chicken. And when I roast up a chicken, I like to do it right. So, I
made the "ultimate roast chicken" surrounded by mushrooms and covered in bacon. That's right, BACON!!! I also candied some pecans and fixed up some elegant gorgonzola pear crostini (Sandra Lee's recipe..who knew?!).

Not to be outdone, my friends appeared with a roasted root vegetable mix (oh la la) and a delectable temptress of an almond bundt cake (she played hard to get in her pan). Needless to say, I loved all the food, but I liked catching up with everyone even more ( ; Thanks to all for a fantastic time, and a giant thanks to the bundt baker. Those leftovers were killer!!

Bonus pic- On December 22nd, my fabulous hs friend and spent a wonderful day catching up. For dinner, we hit up an old favorite Artie's for the best bread basket this side of NOVA, their ever-dependable entrees, and THIS dessert. *DROOOL*
